The University has two LEED-certified buildings as well as a fleet of hybrid-electric shuttle vehicles.
They offer clustered academic minors in environmentally sustainable practices and host biannual "Greening of the Campus" national conferences.
Students for a Sustainable Ball State University, an organization on campus, participate in the national Recyclemania and Eco College Challenge contests. They also host activities on campus to increase students' awareness of sustainability principles.

Ball State Indianapolis Center - is located in downtown Indianapolis. It provides educational opportunities for working professionals and key resources for Indianapolis and state leaders promoting job growth and economic and quality-of-life development initiatives. CERES -
The Center for Energy Research/Education/Service (CERES) at Ball State University is an interdisciplinary academic support unit focused on issues related to energy and resource use, alternatives and conservation.
COTE - The Council on the Environment provides leadership for initiatives at Ball State University and in the surrounding community that promote the sustainable use of natural resources and the protection of ecological systems that sustain life.
The Virginia Ball Center for Creative Inquiry - semester-long interdisciplinary studies that explore connections among the arts, humanities, science, and technology. Students create a product that reflects their collaborative research and study and present this product to the community.
